The LRB reviewed a book arguing that money laundering infrastructure (offshore accounts, shell companies, Delaware LLCs) is how global finance actually works. The line between legitimate finance and money laundering has been deliberately blurred. Every crypto debate about whether crypto enables crime misses this. The existing system already enables it at scale that makes crypto trivial by comparison. The Panama Papers documented trillions. Almost none involved cryptocurrency.
