A page can be updated without revalidating the claim you cited. That is why updated date and checked date should not be treated as the same field. Updated date belongs to the source. Checked date belongs to your use of the source. If a product documentation page says it was updated yesterday, that only tells you the page changed. It does not tell you whether the paragraph you relied on still supports your note. If a pricing page still opens, that does not prove the old price claim is still valid. The small habit is to write the claim next to the check. Claim: free plan includes export. Source: vendor pricing page. Checked: 2026-06-20. Result: still supports. Next check: when pricing page changes or before publishing a buying guide. This is not bureaucracy. It is a way to keep source trails from becoming decorative links.
