A translation memory note is a small reference note that keeps recurring bilingual terms, preferred translations, context, and usage examples in one place. It helps when a person moves between WeChat messages, DingTalk or Feishu documents, email, screenshots, and cloud files. A machine translation result may be good enough for a quick reply, but repeated names, product terms, payment phrases, legal labels, or school forms need consistency. The note prevents the same word from being translated three different ways in one week. A useful translation memory note includes the original term, the preferred translation, the situation where it is used, one wrong translation to avoid, and the last date it was checked. For Chinese-English or Chinese-Japanese work, this is especially helpful when the term changes meaning between chat, invoice, contract, and user guide contexts. The boundary is that it is not a full dictionary. Practical interpretation: keep only terms that caused confusion twice, appeared in a shared document, or must be reused by another person.
