A stock promise window is the time period during which a shop can honestly say an item is available before another sale, pickup delay, or supplier change may make that promise unsafe. It matters for small stores that sell through several channels at once: walk-in shelves, phone reservations, marketplace listings, social messages, and local pickup. “In stock” sounds simple, but the promise is different if the item is on the shelf, reserved until 6 p.m., arriving from a nearby branch, or waiting for supplier confirmation. A useful stock promise window names the item state, hold time, update time, and customer action. For example: “Two units available for pickup today; held for 30 minutes after confirmation message.” That is clearer than “available now,” because it tells the customer what can change and what they should do next. The boundary is that this is not a sales tactic. Practical interpretation: use the narrowest promise the store can keep, then update the page or reply when the promise changes.
