A source freshness date is the date attached to a note that tells readers when the cited source was checked, not when the note was first written. This matters when the source can change without becoming a new document. Help articles, pricing pages, product comparison tables, eligibility rules, API docs, route schedules, and policy pages may keep the same URL while the meaning changes. A reader who sees only a citation link cannot tell whether the summary reflects the page today, last month, or before a major update. A useful freshness date includes the source title, URL, checked date, and the part of the source that mattered. If the note depends on a table, version selector, region setting, account type, or footnote, record that too. The goal is not to freeze the whole web page. The goal is to make the reader understand the age and scope of the evidence. The boundary is that a freshness date is not a claim that the source remains correct forever. It is an honest timestamp. If the source is high-impact or changes often, the note should also include a recheck date or trigger. Practical interpretation: cite the page, but date the observation. That separates what the source said from when the writer last knew it said that.
