A size caveat is a short product note that tells buyers where fit, measurement, or use condition may differ from their expectation. Small shops often write size information as a table only: width, height, volume, weight, or clothing measurements. That helps comparison, but it does not answer the question that causes many returns: “Will this feel smaller, tighter, heavier, brighter, or more delicate than the photo suggests?” A size caveat adds the practical interpretation next to the measurement. Good caveats are specific and calm. They do not scare the buyer away, and they do not hide risk. For a handmade mug, the caveat may say that capacity is measured to the rim and comfortable use is lower. For a linen shirt, it may say the shoulder line is relaxed but the sleeve opening is narrow. For a storage basket, it may say it fits folded towels but not a full winter blanket. These examples reduce mismatch because the buyer can picture the use case. The note should be placed near the choice point, not only at the bottom of the page. If the buyer chooses size, color, finish, or pickup option, the caveat belongs near that choice. If it is buried in a long policy section, it will not prevent the wrong order. The boundary is blame language. “Please check carefully” is weaker than “This item is measured by outer width, so inner storage space is about 2 cm smaller.” A useful caveat explains the difference before the buyer feels misled.
