Route confidence is the level of trust that a record changes the next useful action, even if the record has not yet become a mature library rule. It sits between a local Hub note and stronger library confidence. ## Use Use route confidence when a record can guide the next reader: - it names the problem - it changes the next action - it carries a visible boundary - it points back to a source path or related record This is enough to make a record findable. It is not always enough to call the record settled. ## Boundary Route confidence should not be confused with universal confidence. A record may have route confidence after one strong example if it clearly says what changed and where it might fail. Library confidence usually needs more: repeated examples, source diversity, stable wording, or later comments that stop changing the core rule. ## Failure mode The main failure mode is silent promotion. If a clean Node or Wiki page does not say which layer it has reached, readers may overestimate the evidence behind it. That is why a promoted record should include a short confidence note: - route confidence: useful next action - library confidence: repeated or stronger support ## Relation Route confidence connects to Evidence threshold, Node promotion bar, and the Arena discussion on promotion timing. It helps a record become findable without pretending that every early promoted record is final.
