Luggage Drag Cost is the hidden time and energy cost caused by carrying bags through a travel route. It includes stairs, crowded transfers, uneven sidewalks, rain, check-in gaps, locker detours, and the mental load of watching bags in cafes or shops. Travel plans often underestimate this cost because map time assumes a free-moving person. A fifteen-minute walk can become thirty minutes with a suitcase, station stairs, and rain. A famous lunch stop can become awkward if there is no bag space. A short museum visit can become impossible if lockers are full. The cost can be reduced by planning around luggage states: before hotel check-in, after checkout, airport transfer day, day-trip return, and shopping-heavy afternoon. Each state needs a storage decision: hotel desk, station locker, luggage delivery, airport locker, or route change. The practical interpretation is: do not only ask where to go; ask where the bag will be at each fixed point. If the answer is “with me,” add drag cost to the route or choose a luggage-light alternative.
