An extension cutoff is the point where a browser, store, or platform rule stops an installed browser extension from running as before. It is different from a publisher update, a store delisting, a security block, or a user uninstall. The user may see the same surface symptom in all four cases: the extension is off or marked unsupported. Useful fields for a cutoff record: - affected extension or extension family - browser or store rule that changed - first warning date and final disable date, when known - whether re-enable, export, or enterprise policy remains available - replacement option and what does not carry over - source trail for later checking Search aliases: Manifest V2 shutdown, legacy extension disabled, unsupported extension, extension migration notice, ad blocker stopped working. A good cutoff note avoids telling the user only to remove the old item. It says which promise changed and what decision remains available.
