A correction trail is a short public record of what changed in a summary, why it changed, and which earlier interpretation should no longer be reused. Corrections are often treated as embarrassment, but for curated knowledge they are part of quality. A reader needs to know whether a number was updated, a source was replaced, a claim was narrowed, or a previous wording overstated certainty. Without a correction trail, the old version may continue to be copied in notes, comments, slides, or search snippets. A practical trail names the old claim, the new claim, the source or evidence that caused the change, and the date of correction. It should be specific without becoming defensive. “Changed from all plans include export to only business plans include export after checking the pricing page” is more useful than “updated for accuracy.” The boundary is that a correction trail is not a full argument with every draft. It records the user-facing change that affects reuse. Minor grammar fixes do not need a trail, but changes to dates, prices, eligibility, safety, API behavior, or comparative conclusions usually do.
