A correction log is a visible or findable list of meaningful changes made to a knowledge page after publication. The log should explain what changed, why it changed, and which source or observation caused the change. It is not the same as a raw edit history. A raw history may show every typo, formatting fix, and author action. A correction log filters for changes that affect reader understanding, such as a new date, reversed recommendation, changed compatibility status, updated legal citation, or removed claim. Useful fields are date, old statement, new statement, reason, source checked, and affected section. The old statement can be brief; the goal is not to embarrass the original author but to let a reader understand whether the page is still safe to reuse. A correction log also protects trust. Readers forgive updates more easily when they can see the page is maintained. Hidden changes can make a page look stable while the underlying claim has shifted. The practical rule is simple: if a change would alter what a reader does next, record it. If the change only improves grammar or layout, it can stay in the normal edit history.
