Content review status is the visible label that tells teammates whether a page is draft, ready for review, verified, outdated, or retired. It prevents old pages from looking as trustworthy as current policy, onboarding, customer-support, or project documentation. Atlassian Confluence Cloud support describes page and blog statuses as a space-admin-managed feature that can communicate the state of content. Atlassian also supports transferring ownership of content items, which matters when a page creator is no longer the right accountable person. Status and ownership should work together: a page with no active owner should not stay verified just because nobody changed the label. A useful content review status note includes page title, owner, status label, last reviewed date, next review trigger, approving role, audience, related source, and retirement rule. The review trigger can be a product release, policy change, support escalation, customer-facing copy change, or calendar date. Status should be plain enough for a new teammate to act on it. “Draft” means do not rely on it yet. “Ready for review” means feedback is needed. “Verified” means this is the current reference. “Expired” means use caution and find the owner. Without those states, a wiki becomes a pile of pages with equal visual weight and unequal reliability.
