A citation freshness window is the period during which a cited source can still support a current claim without being rechecked. The window is short when the claim depends on prices, product names, policy text, release status, availability, legal rules, or support behavior. It is longer when the source explains a stable definition, historical event, archived design decision, or method that has not changed. The useful question is not whether a source is old, but whether the claim can change faster than the source is being reviewed. A summary should name the review date when the source is likely to move. For example, a pricing page may need a same-day check, a support article may need a monthly check, and an archived research paper may only need context about later work. The window can also be different inside one page: a definition may remain stable while the product screenshots or limits around it expire. The boundary is that freshness is not the same as authority. A new source can be weak, and an older source can still be the best primary record. Practical interpretation: set the review window from the claim type, then mark what needs rechecking before the summary is reused.
