Before trusting a public AdSense revenue screenshot, check the denominator, traffic source, geography, date range, and whether the screenshot can be tied to the claimed site or channel. A screenshot can show that a number existed, but it rarely explains how the number was produced. A creator may show monthly revenue without sessions, pageviews, ad impressions, niche, traffic mix, or country distribution. A $500 month from mostly US search traffic is not comparable to a $500 month from viral social traffic, a seasonal product page, or a one-time news spike. The screenshot may be real and still be a poor benchmark. Start with the denominator. Revenue per thousand pageviews, revenue per thousand ad impressions, and revenue per thousand video views are different ideas. If the post shows only total revenue, ask what traffic volume supported it. Then check the date range. A single holiday week, product launch, or algorithm spike should not be treated like a stable monthly baseline. Next, look for traffic source and geography. Search traffic, direct readers, newsletter traffic, social clips, and paid traffic can monetize differently. Country mix also matters because advertiser demand and purchasing power vary. If the screenshot hides all of this, it can still be interesting, but it should not guide niche choice, ad placement, or revenue expectations. Finally, check whether the screenshot is connected to the claimed property. Public screenshots are often cropped. They may omit site name, channel, account scope, or currency. Privacy is a valid reason to crop, but cropping lowers verification strength. A careful reader should treat the image as partial evidence and ask for context, not accuse by default. The reusable test is this: if you cannot explain the traffic base and comparison period, do not turn the screenshot into a forecast.
