Calls
A product availability note should tell the shopper what is safe to do next: order now, reserve, call first, choose a substitute, or wait for a restock. The common mistake is treating availability as a simple label. “In stock” may be technically true but still unhelpful if only one item is left, pickup is unavailable today, the color varies by branch, or the count updates once a day. A shopper who drives across town or places a gift order needs the practical promise, not only the inventory status. Write the note in four parts. First, state the current status: ready today, limited quantity, made to order, transfer required, or seasonal. Second, add the freshness of the information: updated this morning, confirmed at checkout, or final stock verified by phone. Third, name the constraint: pickup window, branch, size, color, temperature, warranty, or custom option. Fourth, explain substitutions if they are normal for the category. Examples help. A florist can say that rose color may change but bouquet size and price remain the same. A local electronics shop can say that online inventory does not reserve the item until payment. A bakery can say that weekend pickup slots close the previous evening. These notes reduce wrong orders because they turn uncertainty into a visible choice. Avoid precise stock counts if the store cannot maintain them. An honest “limited stock, confirm before visiting” is better than a number that becomes false during the lunch rush.
