Many useful web sources have no named author. This note explains what to record instead so a reader can still judge provenance, responsibility, and update risk. ## Record the publisher and page role If there is no individual author, name the organization, help center, documentation site, or publication section. A “pricing FAQ” and a “community answer” carry different levels of authority even when both lack a person’s name. ## Keep the title exact Do not rewrite the page title in the citation field. Use the exact title as shown, then add your own plain-language description separately. This helps readers search for the source if the URL changes. ## Add access and update context Include access date, visible update date, and whether the page appears to be official documentation, a support article, a blog post, or a forum thread. This is enough to make a no-author source usable. ## Say what the source can and cannot prove A no-author help page can prove that a product currently publishes a rule. It may not prove why the rule changed or whether the rule applies to every region. State the boundary before using it as evidence.
