First Three Seconds Diagnosis Sheet

The first three seconds diagnosis sheet is a small review form for short videos that lose viewers immediately. It focuses on the opening because the scroll decision happens before the viewer understands the full video. The purpose is not to make every opening louder. The purpose is to make the opening legible.

Field one: visible subject. Can the viewer tell what object, person, result, or conflict matters without reading a long caption? Field two: promise. What will the viewer know or feel if they keep watching? Field three: motion or change. Does something in the frame update before attention drops?

Field four: caption load. If the first text overlay is too long, the viewer may swipe before parsing it. Field five: sound dependency. If the opening only works with audio, check whether silent viewers still understand the setup. Field six: mismatch. Does the body deliver the same thing the hook promised?

Use the sheet after publishing and before remaking. Watch the opening without sound, then with sound, then beside the retention graph. Write one change for the next version: clearer first frame, shorter text, earlier result preview, faster example, or removed setup sentence.

The diagnosis sheet works best when videos belong to a repeated format. One isolated video gives a clue; five videos in the same format show a pattern.
