A portfolio screenshot redaction checklist helps someone share an investing record without exposing more than intended. Screenshots often contain account names, balances, cost basis, order times, broker UI identifiers, tax lots, and notification details. Cropping only the top line is usually not enough. Before posting, remove account number, user name, broker nickname, total balance, deposit history, order IDs, exact share count if it can reveal size, timestamp if it links to a recent trade, and any notification badge. If the screenshot shows multiple tabs, check each tab for personal data. Decide whether the screenshot is even necessary. Many portfolio posts can be clearer as a table with percentages, asset classes, holding period, and rules. A typed table is easier to redact and easier to update later. If proof is needed, use ranges or percentages. For example, show allocation bands, drawdown percentage, or rule compliance instead of exact won or dollar amounts. If the post is part of a public experiment, state the disclosure policy at the start so future posts follow the same boundary. The final check is reversibility: could someone combine this screenshot with previous posts to infer total assets, employer timing, salary cycle, or trading behavior? If yes, redact more or replace the screenshot with a structured note.
