Station Locker Failure Checklist

Station locker failure checklist helps a traveler avoid losing the first or last half-day when luggage storage does not work as expected.

The checklist starts before arrival. Confirm whether the storage option accepts the size of the main bag, which payment methods work, whether the locker sits before or after ticket gates, and whether the pickup deadline fits the next train, flight, hotel check-in, or dinner reservation. A locker that closes before the traveler returns is not storage; it is a deadline risk.

The first on-site check is availability. If the intended locker is full, do not circle the same zone repeatedly. Set a short search limit such as ten minutes. After that, switch to the fallback: staffed luggage office, another exit, hotel storage, mall service desk, airport delivery counter, or a paid storage partner. The point is to stop the bag from consuming the whole day.

The second check is route damage. If the fallback is far away, the planned sightseeing block may need to change. Replace a fragile outdoor walk with a nearby indoor stop, move the meal earlier, or go directly to lodging if check-in is close. The failure response should protect energy, not preserve the original route at all costs.

The third check is the day bag. Before handing off luggage, remove passport, medicine, glasses, charger, power bank, light rain layer, payment backup, and anything needed before the next room. Once the main bag is stored, opening it again may cost time or be impossible.

The checklist is: bag size, payment method, gate location, pickup deadline, ten-minute search limit, alternate storage, route swap, and day-bag split. If those fields are known, locker failure becomes an inconvenience rather than a route collapse.
