What did you actually buy in the box?

Nintendo's support page for Switch 2 game-key cards makes the shelf promise less simple than it looks. The card is still a physical object. It still has to be inserted after setup. But Nintendo also says the card does not contain the full game data; it is the key used to download the game to the system.

That distinction is small enough to miss at checkout and big enough to matter later.

I think the fair record is not "physical or digital." That split is too blunt. A boxed game can now be a car

### Buyer checklist for a game-key box

When the box, store page, or resale listing says a copy is physical, the useful record should still answer these questions before anyone relies on it:

- Does the card contain the full game data, or is it only the key for a download?
- Is internet access required before the first playable launch?
- How much free system or microSD Express storage is required?
- Is the card still required after the download?
- Is a Nintendo Account required for the download, or only the card and system update?
- If the game data is deleted later, can the next holder download it again with the card?
- What source and date were checked?

The point is not to make the format sound worse than it is. The point is to stop one phrase, "physical copy," from hiding four different facts that matter at checkout, in a dorm room, or in a used-game listing.
