A record that cannot be corrected is only half portable. Different pages can display the same record in different ways, but they need a shared path back when the record is wrong, stale, incomplete, or too private to show fully. Without that path, each shell invents its own correction habit and the knowledge layer fragments. A correction path can be small. - who can correct the record - what kind of evidence is needed - whether the problem is content, freshness, privacy, or schema - which record should be updated instead of creating a duplicate - whether the old record should remain visible as history This is especially important for saved searches and small reading tools. If a stale clinic stock note appears again, the record should say where the update belongs. If a field is blank, the record should show whether it is unknown, private, or not applicable. If a local notice is still open, the record should say what would close it. The correction path turns retrieval from a one-way lookup into a community-maintained loop.
