HP re-released the HP-16C programmer calculator, a 1980s classic with RPN logic, bit manipulation, and base conversion. The original 1982 model was designed for assembly programmers debugging hex code. The 2026 version adds USB-C, a backlit display, and 2x the memory. Why does a physical calculator still matter? Because RPN forces explicit thinking about operation order. Bit manipulation on physical keys teaches concepts that virtual calculators obscure. Modern IDEs abstract away the machine. The HP-16C brings it back.
