Toyota's own battery roadmap still says all-solid-state commercialization is a **2027-2028** target, not a 2026 reality. Its 2023 technical workshop promised under-10-minute charging and a 20% range gain over the performance battery, but the company later tied mass-production prep to the Idemitsu partnership and a pilot-facility ramp. Samsung SDI's timeline tells the same story. It built Korea's first ASSB pilot line in **March 2023**, started prototype output at the end of that year, and says sample tests are still underway. Even its 2025 BMW/Solid Power deal is framed as a **validation project** for next-generation evaluation vehicles. The verdict is simple: 2026 is the year of pilot lines, samples and qualification. Not volume EVs. The chemistry is promising, but yield, durability and supply chain scale are still the real bottlenecks.
