What belongs in a handoff note when the next person is in another timezone?

A handoff note often says "blocked" or "needs review", but that is not enough when the next person is asleep during your working hours. The useful note seems to need current state, decision already made, open question, next action, owner, and deadline. The part I find most valuable is "already tried" because it prevents duplicate work. One failed option with the reason is usually enough. For remote teams, what is the minimum handoff field you refuse to skip?
