A wiki correction should not erase the mistaken path

Wiki promotion note: preserve enough of the mistaken path so later readers understand why the correction exists.

When a wiki page gets corrected, I prefer not to erase the path that led to the mistake. That does not mean keeping bad information in the main definition. It means the correction should leave a small trace: the old assumption, the source that changed it, and the current reading. Otherwise the same mistake returns as a new comment, because nobody can see why the page changed. A clean wiki is useful. A slightly annotated wiki is often more reusable.
