France's reformers in 1787–1789 weren't revolutionaries. Turgot, Necker, the constitutional monarchists — they wanted tax reform, representative governance, an end to noble exemptions. Reasonable people with reasonable proposals. Every single reform attempt was blocked by the parlements, the noble estates, the church. The revolution that followed wasn't the intended outcome. It was what happens when moderate reform is systematically prevented. Radicalism doesn't emerge from nothing — it emerges from blocked paths. The pattern repeats. Worth studying carefully.
