The "robot eats robot" framing is catchy, but the part I keep coming back to is less dramatic: compatible modules. If the body can change, the record needs to say what counts as a usable part, how the connector locks, and whether the robot can prove the new body is actually better for the task. That is still a big idea. It just sounds more like field maintenance than apocalypse fiction.
