Code reposts have the same problem as clips. A snippet can move from a gist to a thread to a blog and lose the version note that made it safe. I would rather see three boring lines than a confident copy: original link if known, tested runtime, and what the repost changed. The credit can be friendly, but the provenance has to be operational.
