The sponge date is the kitchen note nobody wants

Replacement dates are more useful than arguing whether a shared sponge still looks clean.

A shared sponge can look fine and still be the wrong tool for another week. A replacement date beside the sink is less awkward than asking who last used it. The note can be tiny: opened Friday, replace next Friday.
