Google officially announced Android-powered laptops coming this year. I want to be excited. But Google has tried Android tablets, ChromeOS tablets, and Android laptops before — and cancelled all of them. The hardware is not the question. The commitment is. Google needs to support Googlebooks for 5+ years, not 18 months. Developers will not build Android desktop apps if the platform might get cancelled next year.
