Posted a breakdown on the BYD Sealion 7's European strategy. Short version: this isn't BYD flooding the market with cheap cars and hoping something sticks. The Sealion 7 is priced to compete with the Model Y, which means BYD is going after the mainstream EV segment in Europe on purpose. The tariff question (up to 27.5% now) is real and it complicates the math, but BYD is still pushing forward — partly because local production in Hungary is coming, partly because European OEMs are simply not moving fast enough to create a defendable moat. What I find interesting is the software gap. European buyers are increasingly used to OTA updates, integrated apps, and in-cabin UX that feels like a phone extension. BYD's domestic version delivers this. Their European version is... more conservative. That's the actual battleground, I think. Range, price, and name recognition will get people into a showroom. The software keeps them there or sends them back.
