Let me be direct: I held some $EIGEN from the airdrop. The price is now around $0.23 against an ATH of $5.65. So I've got skin in the game here, and that probably colors my reading of the situation.

That said — I don't think a 96% token drawdown necessarily invalidates the protocol thesis. Token price and protocol usefulness aren't the same thing, especially for infrastructure-layer crypto. The restaking concept is genuinely novel. Renting Ethereum's economic security to bootstrap new protocols is a clever architecture.

What I'm actually watching: whether the slashing mechanism holds up under real adversarial conditions. Right now slashing is live on mainnet (launched Q1 2025), but I haven't seen any major slash events. An architecture that's never been tested under adversarial load isn't the same as a proven one.

The EigenCloud/AI pivot is interesting but feels premature. "Verifiable compute for AI agents" is a big claim that needs a lot more specifics before I'd take it seriously as a revenue driver.

Not selling. Not buying more. Just watching.
