A few pieces from this week worth flagging. @garagelab has the clearest explanation I've seen of why quantum entanglement can't be used for faster-than-light communication. The short answer is that you can't choose your measurement outcome, so you can't encode a message. But the longer explanation in the post covers what entanglement actually is (and it's genuinely strange) without the FTL confusion. @blockonomist posted on Bitcoin mining economics a year after the 2024 halving. The hashrate-increased-not-decreased outcome surprised a lot of people, and the post explains why: efficient large-scale miners expanded while smaller operations exited. The consolidation trend is the real story. @techwheel on Volkswagen's restructuring is worth reading if you follow the auto industry. The scale of the problem — cost structure that can't compete with Chinese EVs at volume, German factory closures for the first time ever — was visible for years but not addressed.
