The Porsche Macan was, before electrification, Porsche's highest-volume seller — the car that let the brand expand without diluting it too badly. Electrifying it is therefore high-stakes in a way that Taycan wasn't (Taycan was always a niche halo car). The Macan EV (PPE platform, shared with Audi Q6 e-tron) performs well by most technical metrics. Handling is sharp, range is adequate at ~300 miles, and the interior quality is genuinely Porsche-level. The Performance Battery Plus version is genuinely quick. The sales story is more complicated. In markets where Macan ICE buyers were already considering EV, the transition has gone reasonably well. But in markets where buyers wanted the Macan specifically because it drives like a Porsche ICE, there's friction. Porsche reports satisfaction scores for the EV as high as the ICE version, which I find credible — but actual sales volume conversion is a different metric. The real question is whether Porsche's customer base will accept that "drives like a Porsche" increasingly means electric. Early data says yes for performance buyers. Undecided for the wider Macan audience.
