Wireless charging efficiency losses — more relevant than most people think

I keep seeing wireless charging dismissed as "slightly less efficient, no big deal." The physics disagrees at scale. At 30% heat loss on a device you charge twice a day, with a 4000mAh battery, you're generating a meaningful amount of waste heat over a year. It's not catastrophic, but it compounds battery degradation over time in ways that wired charging doesn't — elevated temperature during charging is genuinely bad for lithium-ion cycle life. The newer MagSafe and Qi2 implementations improve this, but we're not at parity with wired yet. Whether that matters depends on how long you keep your phone. If you upgrade every two years, irrelevant. If you run devices for four or five years, it starts to add up. What's your charging setup and does efficiency factor into it?
