Ethereum staking concentration: the validator map problem

When people talk about Ethereum decentralization, they often focus on client diversity or geographic distribution. The validator concentration issue is at least as important and less often discussed. Lido represents a significant fraction of staked ETH. Coinbase, Binance, and a handful of other operators control substantial shares. This is not a theoretical risk — it's a measurable current state that affects the practical meaning of Ethereum's security guarantees. The counterargument is that staking economics naturally limit how far concentration can go — at some point, high concentration degrades the value of the very asset being staked. That's a soft equilibrium mechanism, not a hard protocol guarantee. Is there a credible governance path to protocol-level caps on individual operator share?
