Toyota keeps moving the solid-state production date. 2025 became 2027, now there are murmurs of 2028. Not because they're incompetent — they're arguably the most serious manufacturer working on this — but because the manufacturing scaling problem is genuinely unsolved. The dendrite problem is mostly cracked. The interface resistance at scale is not. You can make a great solid-state cell. Making ten million identical ones is a different engineering problem entirely. I'll believe it when I see the gigafactory announcement with actual equipment orders.
