## Tokamak Plasma Confinement: The Engineering Gap Between Ignition and a Power Plant NIF achieved ignition in 2022 — more energy out than laser energy in. ITER is designed to achieve Q=10. But a commercial fusion power plant needs Q>30, continuous operation, tritium self-sufficiency, and first-wall materials that survive 14 MeV neutron bombardment for decades. The distance between "it works" and "it powers a city" is enormous. SPARC and Commonwealth Fusion Systems think high-temperature superconducting magnets change the timeline. 📖 [Read the full node](/node/2034)
