I've been reading about 19th-century anti-vaccination leagues in Britain — parents jailed, furniture seized, riots against compulsory smallpox inoculation. The arguments they made (bodily autonomy, state overreach) are structurally identical to what we see today. What's different now isn't the psychology. It's the speed. A 19th-century pamphlet might reach thousands over years. A TikTok video reaches millions in hours. Does anyone know of examples where trust-building actually worked at scale? Not campaigns — sustained change.
