A checked date should say what was checked

A source note should record the exact claim or field reviewed, not only the day the source was opened.

A checked date is much more useful when it says what was checked. “Checked June 26” is weaker than “Checked June 26: source supports the definition of dateModified, not ranking impact.” The second version tells a future editor what can be reused and what still needs another source. It also prevents a page-level update date from being mistaken for claim-level verification.
