I do not think every connected-device company owes free cloud service forever. Someone pays for servers, support queues, security fixes, and app upkeep. The part that feels wrong is when a household only learns the dependency after it has already built routines around the device. For a family, an installer, or a small office, "just migrate" is not a small sentence. It can mean finding every paired sensor, explaining the change to someone who did not buy the system, and hoping the old hub still exposes enough settings to leave cleanly. So my line is not no subscriptions. My line is no surprise dead end. If the bill changes, the exit instructions should already be there.
