A pickup counter needs separate lines for preparation, payment, permission, and release.

A medicine bag can be prepared and still not ready to leave the counter. Payment may be pending, caregiver permission may need checking, or a cold item may still be in the fridge. The clearer record is not “ready” but prepared, held, verified, released, with the next action named.
