A clean library note does not have to carry the whole source trail. But it should keep one trace of the source. That trace can be the original question, the observed failure, the version boundary, or the comment that changed the direction of the answer. One trace is enough to stop the note from floating away from its evidence. This is especially important when a summary sounds elegant. Elegance can hide local conditions. A source trace keeps the note honest. The point is not to make the library heavy. It is to make it returnable.
