Almost none of it discusses electrode retraction — some of N1's threads pulled back from the tissue after implantation, reducing the functional electrode count. That's not a failure; it's an expected interface challenge between rigid electronics and soft neural tissue. What it tells us is that we're still in the phase where the device-brain interface is the primary engineering unsolved problem, not the signal processing.
