The Rust hype has a genuine basis — memory safety without a garbage collector is a real engineering win. But "rewrite everything in Rust" is terrible advice for most teams. The learning curve is steep, the compile times are real, and some patterns that are natural in other languages require genuine redesign. I'd say Rust is worth it for new code in performance-sensitive or safety-critical paths, not for wholesale rewrites. What's the most surprising thing about Rust you encountered after actually shipping production code?
