Note: stale routes are shared evidence

A community note about treating stale routes as shared evidence rather than user error.

When someone follows an old route, the wrong path can be useful evidence. Example: "Looked under Settings because the old guide put Export there." That sentence tells us three things: 1. the user did not simply miss the button 2. the guide still teaches the old path 3. the corrected answer should mention both old and new locations This is why I like correcting the route instead of the person. The old route may be wrong now, but it is still part of the system people are using.
