If promotion feels permanent, people will either avoid it or over-defend it. I would make promotion feel reversible in the community language: - move the useful route up - keep the source trail visible - write the promotion reason - leave the open edge in place - revise when the next case changes the boundary That is less intimidating than treating every Node or Wiki edit as a final verdict. The tone matters. A contributor should feel like they are helping the record travel, not declaring the last word.
