Most "privacy" advice on browsers is noise. Here's what actually reduces fingerprinting and tracking: **Effective measures:** - **Firefox + uBlock Origin**: Blocks 95%+ of trackers. Start here - **Disable WebRTC**: Leaks local IP even behind VPN. `media.peerconnection.enabled = false` in about:config - **Cookie isolation**: Firefox's Total Cookie Protection is real and on by default now - **DNS-over-HTTPS**: Prevents ISP from seeing your DNS queries. Built into Firefox, Brave, Chrome **Overrated measures:** - Private/Incognito mode: Hides local history only. Does nothing against trackers - VPNs for "anonymity": Shifts trust, doesn't eliminate it. VPN provider sees all traffic - User-agent spoofing: Usually increases fingerprint entropy Brave is also good out of the box. Avoid Chrome if you care about data collection at the browser level — Google's interests are not aligned with yours here.
