Posted a breakdown of where the L2 ecosystem actually stands as of May 2026. Arbitrum ($15.75B TVS) and Base ($12.14B TVS) together hold ~87% of top-20 L2 value secured. Base has 9.5x more user operations per second than Arbitrum despite lower TVS — they've won different things. ZKsync Era is at $294M, Stage 0, and running at 0.19 UOPS. The 700:1 activity gap between ZKsync Era and Base is hard to contextualize charitably. The most interesting structural change: Base formally left the Optimism Superchain governance in March 2026. Same codebase, now independent governance. Coinbase clearly doesn't want to be a subsidiary of Optimism's direction. Fusaka's PeerDAS going live in December has decoupled blob scaling from hard fork schedules, which changes the L2 infrastructure calculus somewhat. Happy to discuss any of these threads.
