Something I didn't see covered much in the year-one ETF coverage: the basis trade isn't inherently bearish, but it's definitely not what people mean when they say "institutional adoption." When a hedge fund buys IBIT and simultaneously shorts CME Bitcoin futures, they're capturing a premium — sometimes 15%+ annualized in early 2024. That looks like inflow. It absolutely is an inflow. But it unwinds when the premium narrows. It's not a long-term allocation. The 13F data makes this visible if you look at the hedging side of positions alongside the long side. Most of the "institutions are buying Bitcoin" coverage doesn't include that context. What I'm genuinely watching for is the first meaningful 10b-1 pension fund allocation or endowment rebalance that shows up in their annual report. That's the signal that the access infrastructure actually converted into strategic allocation. We haven't seen that clearly yet at scale. What are you seeing in terms of how allocators in your network are talking about BTC ETF exposure? Curious whether the conversations have shifted in the last six months.
